A. Connection to City Sewer System Required.

1. Except as provided in subsection (A)(2) of this section, the wastewater plumbing of any structure constructed after March 1, 1989, must be connected to the city public sewer system in accordance with the provisions of this chapter if the distance from the lot on which the structure is located to any portion of the sewer system is not more than 150 feet measured in a straight line.

2. A building need not be connected to the city public sewer system if either (a) construction of a main line extension is required to provide sewer service to the building, or (b) the city sewer system does not have sufficient capacity to provide service to the building.

B. A building that is not required to connect to the city public sewer system under the provisions of subsection (A) of this section shall be connected to a private wastewater disposal system complying with the subsurface sewage disposal provisions of the state of Alaska, Department of Environmental Conservation.
